The main component of the shortwave communications system SE-430 is the control unit BE-430 consisting of receiver E-430, transmitter control BG-430 and mains / battery power supply BN-430 with an accumulator block united in one cabinet.
In the receiver section E-430, you find the main power switch and the volume control
in the middle below the signal strength meter. In the transmitter control section BG-430, you find agin in the middle the power switch, at the left the jacks for the TC-535 (radioteletype encrypter) or the FSA-430 (connector box to teletypewriter), the morse key or microtel (microphone / telephone handset) and the SVZ-430 (speech encryptor) and below the connectors for the two wire line to the transmitter and another two connectors for the service telephone (DTf). In the bottom row, you find the power supply BN-430 at the left with the mains cable, the fuse and the main power switch, next to it the controls of the accumulator charger with a meter displaying the accumulator voltage and a test pushbutton and accumulator charging lamp and at the right the 24V / 4 Ah accumulator in a drawer. To operate the set, first connect to 220 V mains, connect a improvised antenna
to the BNC jack of the E-430 and turn the set on with the main power switch of the
BN-430, the green 220V and CHARGER lights should be lit. Make sure that the internal speaker is activated, set the volume control to a
medium setting, select the reception mode and enter a frequency. Press CL and key in the desired frequency;
use the command S followed by a digit 0 - 9 to store the frequency in one of the
ten memory channels of the E-430. Pressing the button K followed by the channel number will
recall the frequency from the respective memory channel. FS will recall the frequency
the transmitter is tuned to to the receivers frequency memory.
Use the combination K followed by three times CL for an emergency erase of all frequency
memory contents, the receiver will be locked unteil you turn it off an on again. As you are not allowed to operate the transmitter unless you are an authorized holder of a (amateur radio) licence, I will not dive into details about how to operate the transmitter section. weitere Lektüre: © 28.5.2009 Martin Bösch |
