For the communication needs of the Swiss Air Force / Anti-Aircraft Troops, in the years of World War II a network of shortwave stations constructed from re-used U.S.Signal Corps SCR-287 stations (usually taken out of grounded U.S. bomber aircraft) was installed. There were fixed "mountain stations" in the alps and mobile stations called SE-018/m.

For mobile use, two complete SCR-287 stations were installed on a GMW truck, this stations could be used as mobile ground stations.
After the end of WW II, the Swiss authorities formally paid for the requisitionned wireless equipment and bought further sets of the same type from U.S. surplus.

Transmitter BC-375-E,

1500 - 12500 kHz, 6 tuning units

A1, A2, A3, pout ca. 45 - 75 W

Receiver BC-348 / E-018 / H-Empfänger: superhet, IF 915 kHz

200 - 500 and 1,5 - 18 MHz, analog dial

A1 (telegraphy CW), A2, A3 (telephony)

Mains power supply from Swiss production, BC-221 wave meter for frequency calibration

A part of the Swiss owned U.S. wireless stations SCR-287 was installed on trucks GMC for mobile ground station use.

In the shelter on the truck, there are two wireless operator workplaces equipped with one transmitter BC-375-E, an antenna tuner and a Receiver BC-348 each.

In the operation room, there are two more workplaces for administrative work; at the right - under a desk - is the huge rotary transformer made by Zellweger, Uster. This is used to provide the voltage of 24 or 28 Volts DC necessary to operate the station.

To link the different Swiss Air Force airfields, there were more SE-018 installed as "mountain stations" SE-018/f usually in fortified military buildings in the Swiss alps.

I would be very thankful for further information and images from the mobile H-Station.
